Lower Cape Fear Republican Women - The Heart of the Party!
About Us

Our Mission: The mission of the Lower Cape Fear Republican Women’s Club is to promote an informed public through political education and activity. We hope to increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government; to facilitate cooperation among the National and North Carolina Federation of Republican Women and the other Republican Women’s Clubs; to foster loyalty to the Republican Party, and to promote its principles and candidates in all elections, including non-partisan elections; to support the objectives and policies of the Republican National, the North Carolina Central and the New Hanover County Executive Committees; and, to work for the election of Republican Party nominees.

Our History: In 1972, charter members Isabel Holmes and Marilyn Williams changed political parties to campaign for a man named James Holshouser, who was running for NC Governor. After helping deliver Gov. Holshouser to the Executive Mansion in Raleigh, the ladies formed the LCFRWC with twenty-one other hard-working women, and in 1974, officially chartered our club.

Our Fundraising: We hold a Biennial Auction in odd-numbered years to benefit candidates and the Republican Party.

Our Successes: The 2017 Gala Auction exceeded all of our expectations and goals! We raised approximately $30,000, clearing about $25,000 for our 2018 candidates.  Congratulations ladies! Our 2015 Gala Auction raised approximately $15,000 for 2016 candidates.  In 2009, our Founder’s Gala topped $20,000, with nearly $17,000 donated to candidates. Since 2005, the LCFRW has raised over $116,000 to help local, state and federal republican candidates win elections. We also provide a platform for candidates to gain exposure by hosting events like our Candidates' Forum.
